What is Pupil Premium and disadvantaged funding?
Funding from Pupil Premium is given to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and to close the gap between them and their peers.
Current funding for each pupil is £955.
Pupils who are eligible for this funding are those who have had free school meals within the last 6 years.
Pupils identified as Looked after, also qualify and receive £2,345.
Standard benefits that Pupil Premium Pupils can expect at Woodfield:
Free PE kit (and washing of).
Free stationery.
Free places on holiday Activity weeks held at Woodfield.
Subsidised trips.
Access to a range of kit and clothing for outdoor experiences.
Uniform support.
A heavily subsidised place on KS3 residentials.
Focused academic support in English and writing.
Financial support that aids pastoral care and emotional well-being of pupils.
Key information on funding at Woodfield
Rationale
Pupils often experience a range of barriers to their learning. We use our funding in a variety of ways to try and remove these barriers for individuals.
Pupils experiencing emotional upsets or who have a lack of confidence and poor self-esteem often find engaging in learning difficult. Therefore we use a substantial amount of our funding on good quality therapeutic interventions (like Learning Space) and pastoral support.
By supporting the individual in this way we can either increase their engagement in school or at least limit the negative impact of any difficulties they may be having.
In turn, this aids their academic performance. Additionally we support progress and achievement directly through targeted support that is constantly monitored.
This support mostly comes from qualified teachers and sometimes from Teaching Assistants who deliver focused interventions.

Mrs Wyse leads the management of Pupil Premium funding and continuously monitors the progress and attainment of these students. The Governors along with the Senior Leadership Team are reported to by Mrs Wyse regularly.
If you are a parent of a child entitled to Pupil Premium funding you are encouraged to discuss with Mrs Wyse how your child is supported.
At Woodfield School we believe in personalised learning and are keen to target support tailored for the individual.
